Berends bale handling equipment

Berends produces the largest range of rear linkage bale handling equipment in Australia. All units have been thoroughly tested over years of manufacturing these units, however, care still needs to be taken when transporting bales. All lifting capacities given must be matched up with the capacity of the tractor and all loads must be evenly loaded. It must be noted that the weight increases dramatically during transport as the bouncing effect of the linkage creates additional forces. This can be minimised by lifting the bale as high as possible and reducing speed on uneven surfaces. As thousands of these machines have been made, the strength of the design has been well and truly tested. Therefore there is no warranty against tine breakage, as it won’t happen when used under the appropriate operating conditions. Berends are able to adapt many of the bale forks to suit front end loaders however due to the vast number of different types we do not list any models. If you require adaptation to suit a loader, we suggest that you contact Berends with the relevant measurements for quoting purposes.

Round Bale Handler (P/N 0285)

Round Bale Handler CanberraThis unit has a large single high tensile spike for carrying the bale and a smaller mild steel spike to stop the bale turning. The spike is made from 50mm K1045, is 1200mm long and capable of lifting 500kg evenly loaded. The recommended maximum size bale is a 4’ x 5’ bale. Large bales and silage bales are not recommended due to the variability in weight. It is fitted with Cat 1 pins and Cat 2 bushes. The top link has a choice of mounting positions so the correct angle for pick up and transport can be achieved.

Weight approximately 50kg.

Comparisons against other brands: There are no others which are better value for money which is why we sell more than anyone else. Beware of some cheap imported models which have very low lifting capacities – some are actually less than what the average round bale weighs. Many are made from light materials and this can be easily determined by comparing the overall weight of the products. If they look the same but are quite different in weight then why is that so?

Round Bale Fork (P/N 0286)

Round Bale Fork CanberraThis fork has a rectangular headstock with a centre stay, making it easy to adapt to front end loaders with single or dual crowd rams. This unit has two large high tensile spikes for carrying the bale. The spikes are made from 50mm K1045, are 1200mm long, spaced 28” apart and capable of lifting 1000kg evenly loaded. It is fitted with Cat 1 pins and Cat 2 bushes. The top link has a choice of mounting positions so the correct angle for pick up and transport can be achieved.

Round Bale Fork carryall attachmentAn optional 6’ carryall attachment (P/N 0132) can also be fitted to this unit. It consists of a 6’ x 3’6” hardwood platform with two RHS floor supports which slide over the tines of the bale fork.

  • Weight approximately 110kg.

Silage Fork (P/N 0289/0290/0291/0292/0293)

Silage Fork CanberraThe silage fork is the same frame as the Round Bale Fork but instead of the welded 50mm K1045 tines, they are fitted with welded Conus II sleeves and bolt on Conus II silage tines. These types of tines are narrower and more tapered than the 2” bale fork tines. This allows them to pierce into a bale more effectively whilst still have a similar lift capacity. This makes them ideal for use with tighter silage bales. The tines also have a bit more spring in them which means if they are overloaded they tend to spring back into place. Being a bolt in tine makes them much easier to replace should one get damaged. There are various tine lengths available – 810mm, 980mm, 1100mm, 1250mm and 1400mm straight tines. It is fitted with Cat 1 pins and Cat 2 bushes.

  • Weight approximately 110kg.

Twin Round Bale Handling Fork (P/N 0296)

Twin Round Bale Handling Fork CanberraThis double fork is approximately 2.7m wide and has a rectangular headstock with a centre stay and diagonal supports, making it easy to adapt to front end loaders with single or dual crowd rams. This unit has four large high tensile spikes for carrying two bales. The spikes are made from 50mm K1045, are 1200mm long, spaced 34” apart and capable of lifting 1500kg evenly loaded. It is fitted with Cat 1 pins and Cat 2 bushes. The top link has a choice of mounting positions so the correct angle for pick up and transport can be achieved.

  • Weight approximately 150kg.

Comparisons against other brands: See bale handlers above.

Big Square Bale Handling Fork (P/N 0288)

Big Square Bale Handling Fork CanberraThis fork is 1.8m wide and fitted with three large high tensile spikes for carrying two bales. The spikes are made from 50mm K1045, are 1200mm long, spaced 34” apart and capable of lifting 1500kg evenly loaded. It is designed to carry all types of big square bales. This fork has a rectangular headstock with a centre stay, making it easy to adapt to front end loaders with single or dual crowd rams. It is fitted with Cat 1 pins and Cat 2 bushes. The top link has a choice of mounting positions so the correct angle for pick up and transport can be achieved.

  • This fork is capable of lifting over 1500kg evenly loaded.
  • Weight approximately 135kg

Round Bale Feed Out Fork – fixed or adjustable (P/N 0284/0287)

Round Bale Feed Out Fork – fixed CanberraRound Bale Feed Out Fork – adjustableThis is designed to handle and feed out bales from 4’ (fixed model) up to 6’ diameters (adjustable model). The bales can be carried on the fork for transport or the tines can straddle the bale either side where locking pins are inserted into the middle of the bale so that it can be rolled out for feeding. The tines are made from 100 x 75 x 6mm RHS. The tines on the adjustable model slide along the headstock allowing them to be adjusted from 4’ up to 6’ width and are secured by a locating pin. The tines can also be reversed inwards for picking up pallets or bins.

  • Weight approximately 110kg.

Comparisons against other brands: See bale handlers above.

Linkage Pallet Fork (P/N 0297)

Linkage Pallet Fork CanberraThis pallet fork has a rectangular headstock with a centre stay, making it easy to adapt to front end loaders with single or dual crowd rams. The tines are fixed and made from 100 x 50 x 6 rhs bevelled at the end. It is fitted with Cat 1 pins and Cat 2 bushes. The top link has a choice of mounting positions so the correct angle for pick up and transport can be achieved. Overall lifting capacity is 500kg.

  • Weight approximately 110kg.

The main frame is made of 100 x 100 x 6 rhs on the two horizontal bars and 75 x 75 x 6 rhs on the two outer vertical bars. The 1100mm long tines are constructed from 100 x 50 x 6 rhs which has been tapered and reinforced allowing it to have a Load Rating tested to 1100g (AS2359) at 600mm load centres. The tines are easily adjustable with a maximum tine centre width of 900mm. The overall frame height is 960mm and the overall width is 1120mm. There is great visibility between the frame for the operator to see what they are doing. Optional linkage mounts are available to convert it back to 3 point linkage.
